Rising Sun Physical Therapy Newsletter
"Healthy Thoughts"
Edition #1

Hi, Bettina here, with the first issue of our new newsletter, "Healthy Thoughts."

This is a newly conceived project, and I am undecided about how to proceed, so let me just tell you a bit about myself and the news at Rising Sun Physical Therapy, what's happening in the office and beyond.

My inspiration is to keep you informed about upcoming events, to inform you about our new staff, and to give you tips so you can achieve a better, happier, and healthier life.

There is a saying that goes:

"To keep the body in good health is a duty ... otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear."

Over the past year I have worked 24/7, and my family, (especially my kids) does not like it at all. They have told me "you are just like a mom in movies that is never home."  Ouch!  Yes, I know this is not healthy, and now I have decided to do something about it. To create time for my family, so we can do the things we love to do together, and preserve the aspect of the one thing I love just as much: working with you to get you healthier, and onto the path of wellness. I have brainstormed, trying to confront the way I do things that are not a part of my genius.

I am certainly not a genius at the office work; I have always disliked it. It is a chore. I do it because it is necessary for running a business. I felt it beneficial to find someone who has a passion for working in an office. That is how I found my new office angel, Morrigan Balek. Morrigan loves to perform all kind of magic around my small office; she answers the phones in the morning, so you won't always hear my lovely voice telling you "I will call you back later." This should rectify the endless rounds of phone tag, and those late night call backs. What a relief!  Finding someone I can trust; someone who loves to do the tasks I find tedious and mundane. And, Morrigan really enjoys making you happy and keeping your charts in order. As a result, the office has become a much smoother operation, and will continue to improve as we continue catch up on our back log of clerical work.

Recently, I launched the new 90 minute workshop,

"What to know about cancer treatment and how safe exercises help."

I am passionate about passing on what I had learned with my personnel experience, and my knowledge along to you so you can save time, avoid the frustration and heartache I went through. That nothing gets on your way to attend, Rising Sun Physical Therapy offers you a full scholarship.

In addition to our new office staff, Rising Sun Physical Therapy has also hired two fabulous therapists, Cheeta Llanes and Moon. Cheeta holds a PhD, she is a Certified Massage Therapist and a Certified CranioSacral Therapist, and Moon is a Certified Massage Therapist

Both therapists are truly remarkable, and are very dedicated to making this world a better place to live, and both are invested in providing you with the healing you deserve.

In this inaugural issue of our newsletter I would like to introduce you Moon. Because of her life experience, she is very passionate about gentle touch therapies.  I have personally experienced her presence, and her gentle touch therapeutic style is truly remarkable. I highly recommend her.  I am even planning to schedule my kids, Ganesha and Vishnu, for treatment with Moon.

As part of our first issue I have included a letter from Moon.  The letter talks about her life experience, what she does, and why she does it:

"I was hit by a car, while riding my bike, in 2002. The test results showed several fractures of my pelvis and one through my sacrum. This changed my life and my life's work forever. I had been a bodyworker for many years before my injury and believed that receiving structural bodywork as soon as possible would be more than I needed to return my body to health and overall well-being. In all of its good, it did not seem to address the underlying symptoms and trauma.
By chance I came upon CranioSacral Therapy. I did not know what it was, how or why it worked, but it worked! After the very first session I felt like someone had finally turned the lights back on. My body felt calmer and more grounded, the fog in my head began to lift and I noticed a sense of fluidity within my body. I wondered, "How could such gentle touch effect change so fast?" This question has led me on an incredible journey through pain and fear to joy and freedom.

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) provides a way to release the bodies physical, mental and emotional holding patterns that can interfere with our innate ability to heal. This approach of working through the body opens a pathway to facilitate change at the source of physical symptoms enabling the body can regain its natural function, balance and ease. More than any
other treatment modality that I have worked with, CST has proven the most effective means for treating a range of symptoms from everyday stress to serious ailments.

For over a decade now I have been helping people with chronic musculoskeletal pain, depression, digestive disorders, allergies and the general effects of stress and tension. My formal training began at Prescott College where I received a BA in the field of Holistic Health and Wellness with an emphasis on body-mind connection. I then received my Certification as an Advanced Bodyworker from Alive and Well Institute of Conscious Bodywork. I focused my education on structural rehabilitation and integration and went on to study independently with Dr. Mara Frattasio, a leading chiropractor and physical therapist specializing in sports injury rehabilitation. When I realized the power of subtle touch, the emphasis of my work shifted to not only address the pain, but to see through it into the place of ease, wellness, restoration, human potential and personal expression. Since then I have devoted myself to the study of CranioSacral Therapy and other subtle BodyCare techniques: I have studied CranioSacral Therapy and Visceral Manipulation with the Upledger Institute, as well as Ortho-Bionomy, Trauma Resolution, and ongoing study with Bettina.

I am so excited to be a part of Rising Sun Physical Therapy and look forward to meeting and working with each of you.

Yours In Health ~
